Mammootty fans have enough and more to cheer for in February. Two highly anticipated films—Yatra and Peranbu— of the veteran actor are set for release in February.
Director Ram confirmed on Monday that Peranbu will release worldwide on February 1. Since its international debut at the International Film Festival of Rotterdam in 2018, Peranbu has been a widely talked-about film. It was also screened at the Shanghai International Film Festival. The Mammootty-starrer, back from the festival circuit, also features Samuthirakani, Suraj Venjaramoodu and Siddique. The film also features Anjali Ameer, a transexual woman from Kerala, in a pivotal role. The bilingual film will release in both Tamil and Malayalam.
Telugu film Yatra in which Mammootty essays former Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy, is scheduled for release on February 8. In this biopic, director Mahi V. Raghav will take the audience through YSR's political journey and his famous padayatra in 2003 which led him to the chief minister's chair. The film also features Jagapathi Babu, Suhasini Maniratnam, Sudheer Babu and Rao Ramesh. Going by the photos and trailer, Mammootty has easily slipped into the shoes of the legendary politician. He has also dubbed his own lines in Telugu in Yatra . After wrapping up the shoot, the director who was all praise for the veteran actor had penned an emotional note in which he thanked the star for being part of the film.
