Tamil actor Suriya is likely to play Air Deccan founder Captain G.R. Gopinath in his next film, tentatively titled Suriya 38.
According to media reports, the movie, which chronicles the life of Captain G.R. Gopinath who is a retired Captain of the Indian Army and went on to found India's first budget airline, will be directed by Sudha Kongara.
The actor was reportedly impressed by the directors previous movie Irudhi Suttru in which R. Madhavan played the role of a boxing coach. A formal announcement regarding the movie is expected soon.

The shooting of the movie is likely to begin soon and the director and her team is scouting for locations to shoot the movie. They are also busy finalising the cast and crew of the movie.
Suriya has already two films lined up for the year—NGK and Kaappaan. Directed by Selvaraghavan, NGK: Nandha Gopalan Kumaran is an action thriller, also starring Rakul Preet Singh and Sai Pallavi. Kaappaan, directed by K. V. Anand, is a political thriller which boasts of a huge line of stars, including Mohanlal, Arya, Trisha Krishnan, and Boman Irani.
