Early reviews have started pouring in for Prithviraj's much-anticipated directorial debut, Lucifer, starring Mohanlal. On social media, fans have been lauding the film calling it an out and out mass entertainer for Mohanlal fans.
Interestingly, many have been comparing it to Rajinikanth's Petta, directed by Karthik Subbaraj. Petta was hailed by Thalaiva fans as a film for all those who are in love with Rajinikanth, his acting skills and characteristic onscreen body language. Lucifer, too, seems to be a feast for Mohanlal fans who have been waiting with bated breath for the film.

Written by Murali Gopy, Lucifer, a political thriller, also features Manju Warrier, Tovino Thomas, Indrajith Sukumaran and Vivek Oberoi among others. The team had been putting out character posters of the movie regularly in the past few days. And the final character poster took many by surprise as Prithviraj revealed that he will play a major character in the movie.
With Prithviraj making his directorial debut, he dedicated the film to his father, late actor Sukumaran.

The film also marks Vivek Oberoi's Malayalam debut. Lucifer is a significant outing for Mohanlal, considering his previous film, the highly anticipated Odiyan, failed to meet expectations.
