After directing political biopic, Lakshmi's NTR, that released last week, filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has announced yet another biopic. Titled Sasikala, the film is expected to be based on the life of former Tamil Nadu chief minister Jayalalithaa and her close aide Sasikala.

Varma shared a poster featuring both Jayalalithaa and Sasikala. “The story of a relationship set against merciless men, prisons and Mannargudi gangs,” the poster read. The film was in fact first announced in 2017. Sharing a poster, Varma had then tweeted that Sasikala is going to be a story that only Mannargudi mafia members will understand.

Meanwhile, Kangana Ranaut will be essaying Jayalalithaa in another biopic on the actress-turned-politician. The bilingual film, titled Thalaivi in Tamil and Jaya in Hindi, is being directed by A.L. Vijay.
