Former manager of comic book legend Stan Lee has been charged with elder abuse. According to media reports, the accused, Keya Morgan, was charged on Friday with five different counts of elder abuse, including false imprisonment, fraud and forgery.
According to a Reuters report, the cases could be stemming from an incident that took place in June 2018 when Stan Lee was 95 years old.
A warrant has been issued against Morgan, a New York-based memorabilia collector.
He reportedly got involved with Stan Lee in 2017. After Lee's family accused him of elder abuse, Morgan was served with a restraining order. According to media reports, Lee’s attorneys said Morgan mishandled the late Marvel Comics legend's money and tried to isolate him . They had claimed that more than $5 million was mishandled and Lee was even subjected to physical and emotional abuse by Morgan.
He was also accused of taking control of Lee's Hollywood Hills home and hiring security guards to keep away the relatives of Lee before moving him to an unfamiliar condominium.
Morgan had denied the charges last year. He had said he had only shown love, respect and kindness towards Lee and his wife. Morgan had also accused Lee's daughter of 'witch-hunt' as they are unhappy with the fact that Lee likes him, according to media reports.
Lee, the co-creator of dozens of popular superheros, passed away on November 2018 at the age of 95.
