Suriya fans are visibly excited. There are huge cutouts of the actor across Tamil Nadu and elsewhere as his latest movie, NGK, is all set to hit theatres in a few hours.
NGK marks the comeback of director Selvaraghavan after a gap of almost six years. His last movie, Irandam Ulagam, was released in 2013. In an interview with The Hindu, the director said he always had plans to make a political thriller. He said while he was readying the script, he felt that Suriya would be the ideal choice for the lead character Nandha Gopalan Kumaran.
Selvaraghavan said the actor was excited when he heard the script and agreed to do the movie. Speaking further about the movie, he revealed that NGK revolves around the political happenings in Tamil Nadu.

The director reportedly said he always wanted to work with Suriya.
In a recent interview with The News Minute, Suriya had said he is a huge fan of Selvaraghavan and always wanted to work with him and added that he feels that at this point of his acting carer, NGK is the right choice.
Speaking about the movie, the actor said what makes NGK interesting is its unpredictability as it would be hard for audience to know where the characters are going. He said the movie revolves around the idea that if you do not speak up or do something when bad things are happening around you, you inevitably end up becoming part of the problem.
Suriya reportedly said He said NGK traces the journey of an ordinary man from a small town who is thrown in to the world of politics and manages to find his space in it. The actor added that although it is a politically charged movie, it is not based on any politician or political party.
