Malayalam actor Jayasurya took to Facebook recently to confirm he will essay veteran actor Sathyan in a biopic. Sharing a fan-made poster of the himself as Sathyan, Jayasurya said he was lucky to have bagged this role.
The film is directed by debutant Ratheesh Raghu Nandan, and bankrolled by Vijay Babu under the banner of Friday Film House.
Sathyan, one of Malayalam's iconic stars was known for his versatility and natural style of acting. He made his acting debut in the 1952 film Athmasakhi. He rose to stardom with the critical and commercial success of Neelakkuyil. Sathyan also holds the honour of having won the first Kerala State Film Award in 1969 for his double role in Kadalpalam. He won the state award again in 1971 for his performance in Karakanakadal. He passed away at the age of 59 on June 15, 1971.
As the veteran actor's life is set to be adapted for the silverscreen, it is interesting to know that the actor also served in the army before he turned to acting. He had served as an officer in the British Army during World War II, after which he joined the Travancore State Police as an inspector.
On the work front, Jayasurya was last seen in Pretham 2, and is gearing up for his next release Thrissur Pooram. He bagged the Kerala State Award for Best Actor last year for his performances in Captain and Njan Marykutty.
