Ahead of the much-anticipated release of Disney's The Lion King, the studio, on Wednesday, dropped gorgeous character posters. The images pair up the star along with the animal character each is voicing. In the Jon Favreau-directed adaptation of the Disney classic, we will get to hear James Earl James as Mufasa, Donald Glover as Simba, Beyonce as Nala, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar, John Oliver, Seth Rogen and Billy Eichner as Zazu, Pumbaa and Timon.
What makes the release more exciting for the Indian audience is that, besides English, the film releases in three languages—Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. Disney has roped in top actors from the industries to voice the much-beloved characters. With trailers released in each of these languages, fans are eager to see, or rather, listen to favourite actors voice the characters in these languages.
Hindi
Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan will voice Mufasa, and his son Aryan will lend voice to Simba in the Hindi version. Disney has roped in singers Sunidhi Chauhan and Armaan Malik to croon the desi versions of 'Hakuna Matata' and 'Spirit' in the film. The Hindi version will see Ashish Vidyarthi as the iconic villain, Scar, Shreyas Talpade as Timon, Sanjai Mishra as Pumbaa and Asrani as Zazu.
Tamil
While actor Siddharth is set to voice Simba, veteran actor Arvind Swami makes a comeback to The Lion King universe as Scar. He had dubbed for Simba, for the Tamil version of the film over 20 years ago. Ravishankar who played as the villain in Vijay’s Vettaikaran steps in as Mufasa while Aishwarya Rajesh is likely to voice Nala.
Telugu
Disney has roped in popular Telugu actor Nani to voice Simba, while dubbing star-actor Ravi Shankar will infuse voice into Mufasa. Jagapathi Babu, another versatile Telugu actor known for his roles in Rangasthalam, Srimanthudu and also in Malayalam hit Pulimurugan, will voice Scar. Ali and Brahmandam will voice Timon and Pumbaa.
The Lion King is set to release on July 19.
