Haryanvi singer-dancer and former Bigg Boss contestant Sapna Choudhary joined the BJP on Sunday. Sapna, who had campaigned for the BJP's North East Delhi candidate Manoj Tiwari during the Lok Sabha polls, officially joined the party at a membership drive at Jawaharlal Nehru stadium in Delhi.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister and BJP vice-president Shivraj Singh Chouhan, BJP general secretary Ram Lal and Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwari were also present. "There was no need to think twice. I was highly impressed by BJP's work. BJP is a great party and I have taken its membership," she told ANI.
She had earlier fuelled speculations of joining the Congress after a photograph of her with Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra was shared on social media by Uttar Pradesh Congress chief Raj Babbar. She later confirmed that the photo was an old one and that she had not joined the Congress.
"Without Sapna's consent, Congress has used her old pictures to spread the news that she had joined Congress and will contest from Mathura. She is a superstar and Congress has stooped to such level, which was not expected," Manoj Tiwari had said.
