Bigg Boss Tamil 3 contestant Saravanan is drawing flak for his comments on the show where he claimed he used to grope women on buses when he was young. Singer Chinmayi Sripada, who has been vocal with her stand against celebrities during the #MeToo movement, criticised the audience's reaction to Saravanan's revelation.
“A Tamil channel aired a man proudly proclaiming he used the Public Bus Transport system to molest/grope women - to cheers from the audience. And this is a joke. To the audience. To the women clapping. To the molester. Damn,” she tweeted. She also shared the clip of Saravanan' statement on the show.

Twitter, however, is divided on the issue, with many replying to Chinmayi's tweet in support and against her. While some say it was indeed inappropriate for the audience to cheer, there are others who said the audience clapped for Saravanan's honesty.
@Chinmayi i think people didnt clap for the fact that he said he has molested girls on the bus during college but because he was honest about it. The claps was for the fact that he accept it. But Yees it was not appropriate

Sorry but I don't think anyone in their right mind would be clapping after hearing such a statement. If they indeed are clapping because he was being honest, then it is disgusting. No one should be cheering or clapping for an act like that even if the perpetrator is being honest.

Taking a stand, Chinmayi also shared another note slamming the insensitivity with which Saravanan's comments were approached. “...do none of these people understand that millions of kids get molested on the bus? And that it is traumatic? How is anyone supposed to get justice in a society that cheers molesters?”
