Malayalam superstar Mohanlal, on Monday, took to social media to speak about his directorial debut Barroz, a children's fantasy film. In the video, which included scenes from his acting career, Mohanlal gave a brief introduction about himself and his career. “I am Mohanlal, an actor who has been in the film industry for the last 41 years. I am 59 years and 340 movies old,” he said.
He also introduced popular Spanish actors Paz Vega and Rafael Amargo who were to join the cast of Barroz. Amargo will play Vasco da Gama in the film. “Barroz is set against the backdrop of the maritime history of Portugal, Spain, Africa and India. It is, indeed, about the shared heritage that we inherited from our ancestors,” noted the veteran actor. In the video, Mohanlal invites them to join him in Goa for the film's shoot.
Barroz, Mohanlal's ambitious directorial debut has been written by Jijo Punnoose who gave India its first 3D movie—My Dear Kuttichathan. Barroz, a story on a Portuguese mythical figure who is believed to have guarded Vasco da Gama's treasures. Veteran cinematographer KU Mohanan will crank the camera for the film that will be bankrolled by Antony Perumbavoor under the banner of Aashirvad Cinemas.
The team is also believed to have roped in musical child prodigy Lydian Nadhaswaram to compose music for the children's film.
