Bollywood movie Hichki, starring Rani Mukerji in the lead, won Gryphon Award for the Best Film at the Giffoni Film Festival held recently in Italy.

The festival has a special segment titled Elements +10 where children between the ages of 10 and 12 are the jurors. According to media reports, over 1,500 children voted for seven films from countries such as India, Germany, Sweden, Australia and China after which Hichki bagged the top honour.

The Giffoni International Film Festival is one of the most popular children's film festivals in the world in which over 2,000 children from various parts of the country attend. During the course of the festival, children are shown movies and learn about the process of film making, besides judging and awarding movies.

"Hichki is truly a universal film that has resonated with audiences across the world," the producer of the movie, Maneesh Sharma, was quoted as saying. "The fact that children have voted Hichki as the Best Film of the festival just goes to show that the film''s story of overcoming odds and finding your own success is relevant to cinema lovers even in this age group," he added.

Hichki was released to positive reviews and was praised for spreading awareness of the relatively unknown condition of Tourette syndrome, a neuropsychiatric disorder that results in involuntary motor movements, vocalisation, or tics.
