Mammootty turns 68, fans throng his Kochi home for midnight celebration

As Malayalam actor Mammootty celebrates his 68th birthday on Saturday, wishes are pouring in for the superstar. A video doing the rounds of social media shows fans gathered outside his Kochi home late Friday night. The actor also came out to greet his fans and distributed slices of cake. Ramesh Pisharody, who has directed Mammooty's next film Gaanagandharvan, shared the video.

While fans and other celebrities are taking to social media to wish him well, his son and actor Dulquer Salmaan called him 'the legend' in an Instagram post. “Happiest birthday to the reason for my being ! Inspiring us everyday, being full of love for all of us and always finding time. You’re the greatest. The legend. My vappichi,” he captioned the photograph.

Mammootty is currently working on magnum opus Mamangam, a historical drama. Touted as on of Malayalam's most expensive films till date, the film will release in multiple languages. Mammootty and director Ajai Vasudev are teaming up for another project, titled Shylock. The first look of the film is also trending on his birthday.
