‘Suits’ spin-off ‘Pearson’ cancelled after season one

Pearson, the spin-off series of Suits, has been cancelled after a single season, just six weeks after it ended its 10-episode run on NBCUniversal cable network.

The series, starring Gina Torres reprising her role as Jessica Pearson from Suits, followed Pearson who has been disbarred and leaves her law firm in New York City to move to Chicago and gets involved in the world of politics. The show also featured Morgan Spector, Simon Kassianides, Bethany Joy Lenz, Chantel Riley, Isabel Arraiza and Eli Goree. Suits stars Gabriel Macht and Rick Hoffman made cameo appearances.

Deadline reported that Pearson, which aired on USA Network, averaged only about half the same-day audience of Suits, its parent show. Suits' final run averaged just under one million viewers for initial airings, but Pearson managed only 513,000. Pearson is said to be USA Network's lowest-rated original scripted series of 2019. The spin-off, which was given a backdoor pilot in the finale of the seventh season of Suits, made its debut on July 17, 2019. The Suits franchise has effectively come to an end as the parent show also ended in September after a nine-season run.

Pearson also starred Simon Kassianides, Bethany Joy Lenz, Chantel Riley, Isabel Arraiza and Eli Goree. Suits stars Gabriel Macht and Rick Hoffman also made guest appearances.

The series was executive produced by Suits creator and executive producer Aaron Korsh, Daniel Arkin, Doug Liman, David Bartis and Gene Klein.
