The Telugu film industry is known for its interesting plotlines and high-octane action sequences. This year, too, the industry saw a bunch of hits—from action thrillers, family dramas to a visually extravagant periodic film.

We pick some of the best films from Telugu this year, two of which have been picked for Bollywood remakes.

Jersey: In this heartwarming tale, actor Nani stars as a middle-aged father who finds his lost passion in cricket and takes up the bat for the second innings of his life. The movie, directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, was widely appreciated and the touching scenes and dialogues take the audience on an emotional journey.

Agent Sai Srinivasa Athreya: This is one of the rare detective flicks to hit the screens in the last decade. The movie is not only funny at times but also extremely interesting due to unexpected twists and turns in the plot. Debutant Navin Polisetty and Shruti Sharma deliver good performances.

Brochevarevarura: Director Vivek Athreya follows the hit formula in which two different stories intersect towards the end. The dark comedy proved to be a hit with its racy plot. The movie stars Sree Vishnu, Nivetha Thomas and others.

Oh! Baby: With this movie, Samantha once again proved that she can pull off a movie without any popular male co-star. She stars as 70-year-old Savitri who turns into a young girl. It has been called a meaningful and emotional fantasy movie.

Dear Comrade: Actor Vijay Deverakonda one again essays an intense role. The movie revolves around a student union leader who is short tempered and violent. This takes a toll on his romantic relationship with a woman cricketer played by Rashmika Mandanna. The movie is a unique take on relationships and life.
