The stand-off between Malayalam actor Shane Nigam Kerala Film Producers Association (KFPA) appears to have ended with the actor agreeing to complete three films—Veyil, Qurbaani and Ullasam—which were abandoned, and pay a compensation amount to producers of two of these films.
According to media reports, during a recent executive meeting of Association Of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA), chaired by president of the forum superstar Mohanlal, the young actor agreed to pay Rs 32 lakh to producers of Veyil and Qurbaani. The shooting of these two movies were stalled owing to differences between the actor and the producers.
The actor told office-bearers of AMMA that he would not be able to pay the compensation amount of Rs 1 crore that was demanded from him, and agreed to pay Rs 32 lakh instead, reported The New Indian Express. “We will hold a meeting with the office-bearers of Producers Association in two days. We will tell them Shane’s readiness to pay compensation. We hope they will try to listen to the stance of the actor,” TNIE quoted Idavela Babu, general secretary of AMMA as saying.

Although shooting of Ullasam was completed, Nigam had refused to dub for the movie. "He (Nigam) has given in writing and assured orally that he will cooperate with all decisions of AMMA. He will complete the dubbing of Ullasam as well as the shooting of the two pending movies, Veyil and Qurbaani,” New Minute quoted actor Jagadeesh, treasurer of AMMA, as saying.
Producers' association and Nigam have been at loggerheads since last October after the actor alleged that he had received death threats from Joby George, producer of Veyil, for changing his hairstyle for Qurbani. The differences widened when Shane shaved off his hair and beard.
The actor stirred a controversy once again when he called producers 'people suffering from mental trauma.' The actor had tendered apologies to pave way for a settlement.
