'Veerappan: Chasing the Brigand' to be adapted into a web series

'Veerappan: Chasing the Brigand', written by former Tamil Nadu STF chief K. Vijay Kumar, responsible for bringing down the notorious sandalwood smuggler, will be made into a web series.

Production and distribution company E4Entertainment acquired the rights of the book, which chronicles the 20-year-long fight between Veerappan and Tamil Nadu-Karnataka Special Task Force (STF), to be adapted into a web series.

Taking to Twitter, the production house shared the news: #E4Entertainment is happy to share that we are entering the Web Series segment with one of the best true stories written by IPS Vijayakumar in his book “Chasing the Brigand”

In a press release, the production house said, "E4Entertainment was to start the web series immediately on lifting of the lockdown and restrictions of outdoor shooting is lifted."

“Any web series or feature film replicating the book, its episodes in part or as a whole, or any characters in the book, or their mannerisms as depicted in the book, is liable for damages and legal action for copyright infringement,” E4Entertainment stated in the press release.

Reacting to the news, Vijay Kumar tweeted that he is happy that the production house will be coming out with a web series based on the book. “I am happy to see that E4E who bought the film rights to my book shall finally be releasing the web series for it,” he tweeted.

'Veerappan: Chasing the Brigand' traces the dramatic rise of India's most feared sandalwood smuggler, the high-profile kidnappings. including that of Kannada superstar late Dr Rajkumar, his ruthless killings. and his eventual capture.
