The 25th edition of the International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) has been postponed to February in view of the COVID-19 situation in the state.
Kerala State Chalachitra Academy, in a Facebook post, announced that the fest will take place from February 12 to 19. "The 25th edition of the International Film Festival (IFFK) is slated to be held during 12-19 February 2021. The conduct of IFFK will be subject to the evolving situation of the global pandemic Covid-19.”
The academy said the festival will follow all the government guidelines regarding the pandemic.
Earlier, there were reports that the film festival may be moved online due to the pandemic. Kerala's Minister for Cultural Affairs A.K. Balan had said that if the fest cannot happen in the month of December, it may be held in January or February, and suggested online festival as an alternative.
The academy also listed the criteria for the festival. Films completed between September 1, 2019 and August 31, 2020, are eligible to apply for the fest. October 31 is the deadline for submission of entries. The list of selected films will be published on December 10.
