Mollywood actors Siddique and Bhama, who were the prosecution witnesses in the 2017 actress assault case in which leading actor Dileep is among the accused, changed their statements.
According to media reports, Siddique and Bhama, who had earlier given a statement that there was an altercation between the actress who was attacked and Dileep during the rehearsal of a stage show organised by AMMA (Association of Malayalam Movie Artists), refused to confirm the incident in a court.
Following this, the prosecution urged the court to declare that the witnesses turned hostile.
The actress was assaulted on February 18, 2017, and Dileep was arrested on July 17 that year. Dileep, who spent 85 days in jail, was released on bail with stringent conditions by the Kerala High Court.
Earlier, in March, Bindu Panicker, another Mollywood actor who was a witness in the case, had turned hostile. She had changed her earlier statement that she was aware of Dileep meeting prime accused in the case, Pulsar Suni, at Hotel Abad Plaza in Kochi in 2013.
