Vijay's highly anticipated film Master released in theatres on Thursday, becoming the first Tamil film to hit the big screens after the pandemic-induced lockdown. It is the first blockbuster to release after the lockdown, and the film fraternity has pinned hopes on the film to get the industry going.
Fans had gathered outside theatres early in the morning to catch the first show. Several videos and photos shared on Twitter show fans celebrating the film's release and performing 'paal abhishekam'.
Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, the film also features Vijay Sethupathi and Malavika Mohanan.
#Master #Thalapathy & #VijaySethupathi first meeting scene has come out superbly. Little kid #Poovaiyar has got mass role. An usual formula hero vs villain story with all commercial elements and awesome songs by #Anirudh

Film trade analyst Sathish Kumar M called Master a treat for Vijay fans. Here's a look at social media responses to the film.
It's a #Tsunami at the #BO... #MasterFilm has a FANTABULOUS START... Only goes to prove *yet again*: Give the audience what THEY want to watch and they will never disappoint you... Charm of watching a wellmade entertainer on big screen will never diminish. #Master #MasterPongal pic.twitter.com/2dwgyROAmn
