Actor Sonu Sood has been hailed as a real hero for his philanthropic work during the pandemic and the subsequent lockdown. The actor, who is very active on social media, responds to requests for help and makes necessary arrangements to sort problems of fans who have messaged him.
And now, he has extended a helping hand to a fan from Nepal who requested financial assistance for a surgery at AIIMS. The Twitter user said that he has been suffering from Ankylosing Spondylitis for the past 10 years and the doctors at AIIMS have suggested he undergoes surgery. However, he could not afford surgery. WebMD describes ankylosing spondylitis as a rare type of arthritis that causes pain and stiffness in the spine.
Responding to this, Sonu tweeted ‘athithi devo bhava’ and promised the user that he would be able to ‘run from India to Nepal’ without a stick. The user shared a video of him walking with the help of a walking stick.

He will soon release his memoir I Am No Messiah in which he chronicles the experiences of the masses when life came to a standstill courtesy the coronavirus pandemic. Sood was catapulted to national fame as he came forward to help stranded and jobless migrants during the over two month-long lockdown from March 25, 2020 as the country's poor poured out of cities and took to highways to reach their home, sometimes covering the journey of thousand miles on foot.
Moved by their plight, Sood and his team launched an initiative to help these workers in Mumbai and different parts of the country.
