Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali has tested positive for COVID-19, according to reports. He was shooting for Alia Bhatt-starrer Gangubai Kathiawadi in Mumbai.
“SLB has tested positive for COVID-19, and he is under self quarantine, Alia too has quarantined herself since SLB and Ranbir both have tested positive. Everybody who has come in contact with Sanjay have taken the test,” a source told The Indian Express. The director’s mother, Leela Bhansali, has tested negative and is doing fine.
Actor Ranbir Kapoor, too, has tested positive for COVID-19, his mother Neetu Kapoor confirmed on Tuesday.
Gangubai Kathiawadi features Alia as Gangubai, one of the most powerful, loved and respected madams from Kamathipura, Mumbai's red-light area, during the 1960s. The film, which will open in theatres countrywide on July 30, has been adapted from one of the chapters of noted author Hussain Zaidi's book Mafia Queens of Mumbai.
Bhansali is co-producing the film with producer Jayantilal Gada's Pen India Limited.
