Pakistani singer Meesha Shafi, who falsely accused fellow singer-actor Ali Zafar of sexual harassment in April 2018, faces prison term upto three years.

Following the allegation that was made against him in the wake of #MeToo movement, both parties had issued legal notices to each other. Zafar had also filed a defamation case.

"I have been subjected, on more than one occasion, to sexual harassment of a physical nature at the hands of a colleague from my industry: Ali Zafar. These incidences did not happen when I was young, or just entering the industry. This happened to me even though I am an empowered, accomplished woman who is known for speaking her mind! This happened to me as a mother of two children," Shafi had then claimed.

In November 2018, Zafar had also filed a complaint with Pakistan's Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) alleging many social media accounts were posting threats and defamatory material against him in the wake of the allegation of sexual harassment made against him.

After Shafi made the allegation against him, more women had come forward with similar allegations.
