A group of celebrated Bengali actors and musicians have come together in a viral music video about the need to throw out forces that propagate intolerance. The video song titled ‘Nijeder Mote, Nieder Gaan’ (Our song about our views), which was released on YouTube, does not explicitly name the BJP.
The lyrics, however, are centred around many of the national party’s policies and discusses issues like the NRC, CAA, unemployment, rising fuel prices and farm laws. The video also references phrases like ‘tukde tukde gang’, ‘urban naxal’ and so on. The video also shows newspaper clippings on the Babri masjid verdict, internet outage in J&K and many more.
The video features prominent Bengali figures like Parambrata Chatterjee, Anirban Bhattacharya, Sabyasachi Chakraborty, Rudraprasad Sengupta, Anupam Roy, Rupankar Bagchi, Riddhi Sen and Suman Mukhopadhyay.
“We will not give into divisive and steamrolling politics, which defies all democratic norms. No political party is a saint, but there’s a time when you have to call out the autocrats and choose the lesser-evil,” Parambrata Chatterjee said.
The music video directed by actors Riddhi Sen and Rwitobroto Mukherjee has gone viral on social media.
