Tamil superstar Ajith Kumar hasdonated Rs 25 lakh to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’s Relief Fund for the fight against COVID-19, according to reports.

Suresh Chandra, Ajith Kumar’s manager, on Friday took to his Twitter handle to reveal the news. He wrote, “Shri Ajith kumar had donated twenty five lakhs to the Chief minister relief fund today via bank transfer.”

Director Murugadoss also donated Rs 25 lakh to the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister's Relief Fund. The filmmaker went to CM M.K. Stalin's office in Chennai to hand over his donation.

Tamil actor Sivakumar and his sons Suriya and Karthi had also met Stalin recently to donate Rs 1 crore.

Tamil Nadu recorded 30,621 fresh cases of COVID-19 on Thursday. The Tamil Nadu government has already imposed a two-week lockdown effective since May 10.

Kollywood has lost a few eminent artists to COVID-19 recently. Director Thamira, cinematographer KV Anand and actor Pandu succumbed to the virus in the last few weeks. Singer and actor MJC Comagan, best known for his appearance in film Autograph, also passed away recently due to COVID-19 complications.
