Veteran actress Sirekha Sikri passed away on Friday in Mumbai. She was 75. According to reports, Sikri, who has not been well for quite some time, suffered a cardiac arrest on Friday. She had suffered a paralytic stroke in 2018 and a brain stroke in 2020.
“Three-time national award-winning actress, Surekha Sikri has passed away following a cardiac arrest earlier this morning at the age of 75. She had been suffering from complications arising from a second brain stroke. She was surrounded by family and her caregivers. The family asks for privacy at this time. Om Sai Ram,” Sikri’s manager told the Indian Express.
Sikri, whose acting career spanned theatre, cinema and television, made her debut with Kissa Kursi Ka in 1978. She is best known for her performances in Tamas, Mammo, Salim Langde Pe Mat Ro, Zubeidaa, Badhaai Ho and daily soap Balika Vadhu.
Sikri was last seen in Netflix's anthology Ghost Stories (2020), in the story directed by Zoya Akhtar.
