Actress-model Poonam Pandey has reacted to the arrest of businessman Raj Kundra in the porn film racket case. “At this moment my heart goes out to Shilpa Shetty and her kids. I can’t imagine what she must be going through,” she said in a statement.
Poonam added that in this scenario, she does not want to "highlight her trauma". Poonam referred to a case she had filed against Raj in 2019. “The only thing I’ll add is that I have filed a police complaint in 2019 against Raj Kundra and subsequently registered a case at the honourable High Court of Bombay against him for fraud and theft. This matter is sub judice, hence I would prefer to limit my statements,” she said.
Poonam had signed a deal with Raj and his associates who were part of Armsprime Media, the company that was handling The Poonam Pandey App. She claimed that they used her content meant for the app even eight months after their contract expired.
Speaking to the Times of India last year, Poonam had said: “I realised certain discrepancies in revenue sharing and hence, decided to terminate the contract. They continue to post my pictures and videos on the app. To my horror, they also leaked my personal mobile number along with messages like ‘Call me now as I am free to talk’ and ‘Call me now. Let us talk and I will strip for you’ on the app. After that, I started receiving calls from all over, not in dozens but thousands, at odd hours, asking me for explicit services.”
Raj, who denied the allegations, had claimed he had exited the venture and sold his shares to the current stakeholder.
Raj was arrested Monday night after being booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Information Technology Act. A Mumbai court on Tuesday remanded him to police custody till July 23.
