Hollywood actor Kit Harington, most popular for his role as the Jon Snow in the fantasy HBO series Game of Thrones, opened up about battling depression, alcohol addiction and suicidal thoughts.

Speaking about his struggles with alcoholism and mental health issues, the actor, in a recent interview to The Sunday Times said things that were happening to him after Game of Thrones and even during the series "were of a pretty traumatic nature and they did include alcohol."

He said he sought help after facing “some pretty horrible stuff” after the show ended in 2019. “You get to a place where you feel like you are a bad person, you feel like you are a shameful person. And you feel that there’s no way out, that’s just who you are. And getting sober is the process of going, ‘No, I can change'," he was quoted as saying.

The actor admitted that he also felt suicidal during his struggles. "I went through periods of real depression where I wanted to do all sorts of things," the actor said.

He has now been sober for two years.

Harington said he hopes that being open about the mental health issues and addiction he faced may help "someone, somewhere." "I have been through something, it is my stuff. If it helps someone, that is good," he said.
