Kavya Madhavan will be interrogated by the Kerala Crime Branch on Wednesday, in connection with the 2017 actress assault case. Kavya, who was initially summoned for questioning on Monday, had expressed inconvenience to reach Kochi from Chennai.
The Crime Branch decided to quiz Kavya after a leaked audio clip of a purported conversation between actor Dileep's brother-in-law TN Sooraj and his friend Sarath suggested Kavya was aware of the crime. Kavya's husband Dileep is the eight accused and alleged mastermind of the crime.
Stating that “fresh facts” are coming to light, the police have approached the Kerala High Court seeking more time to complete the investigation.
The probe team has recorded the statement of Dileep's ex-wife and actress Manju Warrier, The New Indian Express reported. She has identified the voices of Dileep, his brother Anoop, Sooraj and Sarath in the audio clip, the report stated.
The actress-survivor, who has worked in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam films, was abducted and allegedly molested in her car for two hours by some persons who had forced their way into the vehicle on the night of February 17, 2017 and later escaped in a busy area. The entire act was filmed by those persons to blackmail the actress. There are 10 accused in the case and police have arrested seven. Dileep was arrested subsequently and released on bail.
