Kangana Ranaut took to social media on Thursday to share the teaser of her next directorial—Emergency. The actress plays the role of former prime minister Indira Gandhi.

The actress looks unrecognisable as Indira, and has stunned fans with the transformation. The film's teaser opens with a man attending a phone call. He asks her if the president of the United States can address her as 'madam'. The camera then reveals Kangana's face, as she asks him to inform the US president that everyone in her office refers to her as 'sir'.

The film is written by Ritesh Shah. Kangana had earlier clarified that the film was not a biopic of the former PM. She had said, “It is not the biopic of Indira Gandhi. It is a grand period film. To be precise, it is a political drama that will help my generation to understand the socio-political landscape of current India.”

The film was earlier supposed to be directed by Sai Kabir. But in June last year, the actress announced she would be helming the project. “After working on Emergency for more than a year I finally figured no one can direct it better than me,” she said. She previously donned the director's hat for Manikarnika.

She has roped in award-winning prosthetic makeup artist David Malinowski for the film. David has been a part of films like Darkest Hour and Batman
