Perhaps, in a first, a Malayalam film crew has set up an Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) in the pre-production stages itself.

Internationally acclaimed director Dr.Biju announced through social media that an ICC has been formed for his upcoming film 'Adrishya JalaKangal' at the pre-production stages of the film itself.

Dr.Biju posted on Facebook, “It is important that workplaces in cinema are made more women and employee-friendly. Very few film sets have ensured an ICC.”

He added that while ICCs are generally formed during the shooting stage of a film, a film begins at the pre-production stage itself. Announcing the formation of the committee, Dr.Biju wrote let Malayalam cinema move to new practices.

The ICC is presided by Nimisha Sajayan and has advocate Ashalatha, Anju Mol, Madhumitha, Animol, and Eldho Selvaraj as members. The film is produced by Ellanar Films in association with Mythri Movie Makers and Tovino Thomas Productions.

Tovino Thomas, Nimisha Sajayan and Indrans play the lead characters in the film. According to reports, Grammy award winner Ricky Rej has been roped in as the music composer for the film.

Discussions have been happening in Malayalam industry about setting up ICCs in film sets and reportedly, many producers have been reluctant about the move.
