As the release date of Ajith Kumar-starrer Thunivu and Thalapathy Vijay's Varisu is nearing, the debate among the fans of the two stars, comparing both the actors, revived. Both films are slated to release during Pongal 2023. A few days ago producer Dil Raju sparked the debate again when he said Vijay is a bigger factor than Ajith in Tamil Nadu.
Now, weighing in on the debate, South Indian actor Trisha Krishnan, who shared screen space with Vijay and Ajith, said both of them are superstars.
Speaking to Galatta Plus, the actor said she does not believe in the numbers game. " It is just a tag attached to your last film. If your last film does well, you’re considered number one. If you don’t have a release for a while, there will be someone else in that position," she was quoted as saying.
She said it is not possible for her to choose between Vijay and Ajith as both the actors have been around in the industry even before she started working. "We watch their films as an audience. If you pick a person from the theatre, they are watching their films for the joy of watching. Even though they have fan clubs, I think this numbers game is something we started," she said.
Calling both Vijay and Ajith "big superstars," Trisha asked, "How can I say who’s bigger."
Dil Raju had later clarified his comment in the wake of a social media backlash, claiming that his comments were "misconstrued."
I made a reference to Vijay garu and Ajith garu only in the context of the theaters issue, he said, adding that a small portion from a long interview as taken and was blown out of proportion.
Directed by Vamshi Paidipally, Varisu release date in January 12. Varisu movie cast includes Rashmika Mandanna, Prabhu, R. Sarathkumar, Prakash Raj, Yogi Babu, Khushbu and Jayasudha, apart from Vijay.
An action thriller film written and directed by H. Vinoth, Thunivu release date too is January 12. Thunivu movie cast includes Manju Warrier, Samuthirakani, and Veera apart from Ajith.
