After a long wait, the trailer of Prithviraj Sukumaran-starrer Aadujeevitham, (Goat Days) based on the book of the same name by popular Malayalam writer Benyamin has been dropped, and it was indeed worth the wait.
The movie, directed by Blessy, explores the real-life story of a migrant worker from Kerala, Najeeb, who gets trapped into working in almost slave-like conditions as a goatherd in a Saudi Arabian farm. The movie chronicles his struggles at the farm and daring escape.
The movie also stars Amala Paul and Jean-Louis as Ibrahim, who joins Najeeb in his daring escape to freedom. (Click the link to watch the trailer)
The film showcases Najeeb's journey as a young man full of hope, landing in Saudi Arabia in search of greener pastures but ending up in a goat farm, to his daring journey to freedom against all odds.
The movie was shot in Algeria, Jordan and India. According to director Blessy, it took nine years to complete the film.
“A story of a simple dream for a better life gone awry. It is a tragedy that the innocent do frequently get taken advantage of, the director was quoted as saying.
The original score and songs are composed by A. R. Rahman. The movie is expected to be released at various festival circles, including at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival.
