Margot Robbie's Barbie may have registered the biggest opening at the international box office this year, but a section of the audience don't seem to be impressed by the film. Singer Sona Mohapatra took to social media on Tuesday to express disappointment after watching director Greta Gerwig's film which also features Ryan Gosling as Barbie' s boyfriend Ken.
Sona wrote on Twitter, “Can’t believe I went to a theatre after eons & subjected myself to an unbearable, terrible #Barbie . That there were a bunch of desi Barbies talking loudly through the film was additional torture.”

The singer's response comes shortly after actress Juhi Parmar's open letter to Barbie started trending on social media. In a long post on Instagram, Parmar shared that she walked out of the theatre with her 10-year-old daughter within 15 minutes of the film.
Parmar criticised the use of inappropriate language and sexual connotations in the film. “Dear Barbie, I start with owning up to my mistake, I took my 10 year old daughter Samairra to watch your film without researching the fact that it was a “PG-13″ movie. 10 minutes into the movie, inappropriate language, sexual connotations and I was anxiously running out of the theater wondering what had I just exposed my child to. She had been waiting to watch your film and here I was just shocked, disappointed and heartbroken with what I had just exposed her to,” she wrote.
She added that there were other parents, too, who were disappointed with the film, but not everyone walked out. She acknowledged she was at fault for not doing her research before watching the film.
“Why make Barbie inappropriate for kids and a Pg-13 movie rather than one which everyone could enjoy with family. I wish I could erase the memory of this film and continue believing in a picture perfect Barbie for my child who has a collection of yours and loves you so much… I so wish,” she wrote.
Barbie has performed reasonably well at the Indian box office, too, but only behind Christopher Nolan's epic film Oppenheimer.
