The week ahead looks very exciting with a slew of eagerly anticipated movies and shows arriving on the big screens and streaming platforms. While Shah Rukh Khan's action thriller Jawan arrives in theatres this week, Rajinikanth-starrer Jailer heads to the streaming space after a record-breaking box office run.

Jawan: Theatres
Release date: September 7
Shah Rukh Khan is back on the big screen after scripting box office records with Pathaan. Jawan, directed by Tamil filmmaker Atlee, features Nayanthara as the female lead. Tamil actor Vijay Sethupathi, too, is set to make his Bollywood debut as the antagonist in the high-octane action thriller. The film also features Sanya Mehrotra and Priymani among others.
Jailer: Amazon Prime Video
Release date: September 7
The Rajinikanth-starrer which is still successfully running in theatres is all set to stream this week. Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, the film features Rajinikanth as Muthuvel Pandian, a retired police officer. Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu, Vinayakan, Tamannaah Bhatia round out the cast, along with special cameos by actors Mohanlal, Shiva Rajkumar and Jackie Shroff. The Tamil action entertainer will also stream in Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi.
Haddi: ZEE5
Release date: September 7
Billed as a revenge drama, the film set in Gurgaon and Noida revolves around a transgender man, essayed by Nawazuddin Siddiqui, who leaves his home to join the transgender community in Delhi. Also featuring Anurag Kashyap, the film is directed by debutant Akshat Ajay Sharma.
The Little Mermaid: Disney plus Hotstar

The live-action remake of the Disney classic will stream this week after its theatrical debut in March. The film revisits the tale of mermaid princess Ariel who makes a pact with the evil sea witch Ursula for a chance to walk on land. The film stars Halle Bailey as Ariel, Jonah Hauer-King as Prince Eric, Melissa McCarthy as Ursula, and Javier Bardem as King Triton.
Virgin River season 5 part 1: Netflix

The show revolves around a woman name Mel, who moves into a small town Virgin River to leave her painful past behind and start afresh. The fifth season was delayed due to the strike by Hollywood writers and actors. Season 5 comprises 12 episodes, seven of which will arrive as part 1. The last two episodes are expected to be released in November.
