After scripting box office records this year with Pathaan, Shah Rukh Khan is gearing up for the release of the much-anticipated Jawan. Amid the frenzy created by the film's promotion, over 7.5 lakh tickets have already been sold in advance bookings across the country, according to reports.
Film trade analyst Manobala Vijayabalan shared on X on Tuesday: “SOLD 7 lac tickets & CROSSES ₹20 cr gross mark across all theatres in India. National Multiplexes alone sells 3 lac plus tickets for the opening day.”
Jawan is set to break the opening day figures of his own film Pathaan with insiders pegging day one earnings at Rs 65-70 crore.
Film producer Girish Johar told Indian Express that Jawan is likely to cross the Rs 100-crore mark on the first day of release itself. The actioner helmed by Tamil director Atlee will arrive on the big screens on Thursday. The Hindi film will also release in Tamil and Telugu across 4,500 screens.
The Hindi film is also creating ripples in south India because of the massive presence of Tamil celebrities. Director Atlee is well known for hits like Mersal and Bigil. Jawan also features Tamil stars Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi, both of who mark their Bollywood debut with this film. Sethupathi plays the antagonist in the film, with was referred to as the world's “fourth largest arms dealer”. The film also features music by Tamil composer Anirudh Ravichander.
“About 30-35 per cent of the film's business will come from the South, which again is bigger than the numbers made by Pathaan,” PVR-INOX Ltd Executive Director Sanjeev Kumar Bijli said.
Industry experts said that the film will receive a good opening not only in metros, but also in other areas of Tamil Nadu. In Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Kerala, too, Jawan is expected to rewrite records when it comes to response to Hindi films.
Trade analyst Ramesh Bala expects Jawan to become the best Hindi movie in Tamil Nadu, and break box office records of Hindi-dubbed versions of Padmavat and Dangal.
According to a Times of India report, Telugu version of Jawan has also recorded stellar bookings for the first show.
