Actress Deepika Padukone, who has been basking in the success of Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Pathaan, is receiving love from fans for her cameo in Jawan too. Jawan marks Deepika's fifth collaboration with Shah Rukh.
Deepika, who made her Bollywood debut opposite SRK in 2017's Om Shanti Om, also co-starred in Happy New Year and Chennai Express. All the films have done well at the box office, with fans referring to her as SRK's 'lucky charm'.
The actress stated that her relationship with Shah Rukh goes way beyond the luck factor. “We are each other's lucky charm. But honestly, we are beyond luck. We have a sense of ownership over each other,” she told THE WEEK in an exclusive interview with Lifestyle Editor Namrata Zakaria.
Opening up about her equation with Shah Rukh, Deepika shared that there is deep trust and respect between them that allows them to be vulnerable with each other. “I am one of the few people he is vulnerable with. There is so much trust and respect, and I think that luck is just the cherry on the top,” she said.
Pathaan had a dream run at the box office, grossing over Rs 1,000 crore worldwide. She is not fascinated by the numbers, Deepika said, but is grateful that people are coming back to movie theatres after the pandemic lull that battered the industry. “I’ve never been fascinated by numbers whether it was Maths in school or the numbers of Pathaan. I was just happy that cinemas had come alive again, that people had come alive again. I was really grateful for that,” she said.
