Hours after Raj Kundra triggered speculations of divorce from wife and actress Shilpa Shetty, he cleared the air with another social media post on Friday. “We have separated and kindly request you to give us time during this difficult period,” he had written in a cryptic post early morning.
As it fuelled rumours of separation, he put up another post clarifying that he was indeed separating—not from his wife, but the face masks that have“protected” him over two years. Sharing a reel featuring his collection of face masks, the actor-producer wrote: “Farewell Masks ...it's time to separate now! Thank you for keeping me protected over the last two years. Onto the next phase of my journey. #UT69”
Kundra is currently promoting UT69, in which he plays himself. The film revolves around events that led to Kundra's arrest in 2021 following the charges of producing and sharing pornographic content. Since being out on bail in September 2021, Kundra has not revealed his face to the public or paparazzi. Every time he steps out, he was spotted with different types of masks that cover his face completely.
Removing the mask in front of media during the press conference for UT69's trailer launch recently, he said: "I wore the mask out of pain. The media trial was painful. It was more painful than my legal trial that's going on.”
The trailer gives a glimpse of his experiences as an under-trial in Mumbai's Arthur Road prison. The film is helmed by Shahnawaz Ali.
