Actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu has opened up about her personal and professional struggles in a recent interview. She spoke at length about her modelling career, her divorce with actor Naga Chaitanya and her battle with myositis.

The actress said that she had hit an all-time low with a “failed marriage, and health and work were getting affected”. “...it was a triple whammy, boom boom boom, she told Harper's Bazaar. She said that most people “go down” for far less than what she endured over the last two years. “ During that time, I read about actors who have gone through health issues and made a comeback, or suffered trolling or anxiety. And reading their stories helped me,” she added.

Speaking about the initial days of her modelling career, Samantha said she feels she was “bad” at the beginning but modelling came to her while she was going through a difficult time at home. The actress added that she feels embarrassed when she sees an advertisement from her earlier modelling days play out on television.

She is not worried about her 'lows' being out in the public space. “It is important to recognise that being a loved star in this nation is an incredible gift. So be responsible for it, be honest and real and tell your story,” Samantha said in the interview.

Samantha and Naga Chaitanya shocked fans with their decision to part ways in 2021. Shortly after that she also revealed that she was diagnosed with myositis—a rare auto-immune condition that causes the muscles to become tired and painful.

Samantha is on a break now and is expected to announce her next film in January. According to earlier reports, she is taking time out to focus on her health and get further treatment for mysoitis. She was last seen on the big screen in Telugu romantic drama Kushi, opposite Vijay Deverakonda. She has also wrapped up shooting for her upcoming spy thriller series Citadel—an Indian spin-off of Priyanka Chopra's Amazon Prime series.

“I am prioritising experiencing life a little, living in the moment and getting time to spend with people I love,” she added.
