Fans of actor Salman Khan went all out to celebrate the release of Tiger 3, coinciding with Diwali on Sunday. But celebrations went overboard in Maharashtra, where fans burst crackers inside a theatre, triggering panic among the audience.
In a video that is now going viral, fans burst crackers in the front as Tiger 3 plays out on the big screen, while those seated there run for safety. Other videos of fans setting off rockets inside the theatre in Malegaon have also surfaced. According to reports, police have started investigating the incident.
Several users took to social media to share the videos and condemn those involved for risking the lives of others in the theatre. Some noted how it could have developed into a stampede as the audience ran in panic.
Sharing the video on X, filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma wrote: “And we think we're not mad'.
According to reports, this is not the first time that Salman fans have burst firecrackers inside theatres playing his film. Similar incidents were reported in 2021 during the screening of Antim: The Final Truth. Salman had condemned the incident, and urged fans not to repeat it, Hindustan Times reported.
Tiger 3, starring Salman and Katrina Kaif, is the fifth film in the YRF spy universe. Featuring Emraan Hashmi as the antagonist, the film is said to have registered the biggest opening ever for its lead actor Salman. According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, Tiger 3 raked in Rs 43 crore in India on opening day.
Salman's top five openers currently are Tiger 3, Bharat, Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, Sultan and Tiger Zinda Hai.
