The prequel is titled 'Kantara Legend: Chapter 2'

After the immense success of Kannada film Kantara: A Legend, the makers are set to bring Kantara 2 on to the big screens. Titled Kantara: A Legend - Chapter 1, the film is in fact a prequel that looks back at the birth of the folklore on which the original film was based.

Hombale Films on Monday unveiled the teaser and first look of the much-anticipated film that will release in seven languages.

Directed by Rishab Shetty, Kantara, set in a village in Dakshina Kannada, revolved around a Kambala champion (essayed by Rishab) who is at loggerheads with a forest officer. The film was hailed for its visual excellence that captured the folklore of the state. Kambala is an annual race, held from November to March in coastal Karnataka, in which a jockey drives a pair of buffaloes through muddy tracks.

The teaser opens with the roar, familiar to those who watched the first film. Rishab takes on a fierce avatar in the teaser, as we catch a glimpse of his blood-soaked character. As we soak in the intrigue set by the visuals and background score, the narrator says. “Light. Everyone can see everything in light. But this is not light, this is vision. Vision of what has happened, what is happening and what is going to happen, the light that shows everything.”

According to reports, the film which went on floors, will feature crew members from different south Indian states.
