Actor and Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) founder Vijayakant's health has mildly deteriorated in the past 24 hours, the hospital said in a statement on Wednesday. 71-year-old Vijayakant, who remains hospitalised since November 18, was showing great improvement before sufferering the setback, the Miot Hospital said in a statement.
“Mr Vijayakanth was showing great improvement. However, over the last 24 hours, he showed mild deterioration requiring a small amount of pulmonary support. We continue to be confident that he will recover soon and he will need 14 more days of follow-up in the hospital,” the medical status bulletin in Tamil read.
Last week, the hospital confirmed that Vijayakanth was responding well to the treatment for his febrile illness. The earlier bulletin said that his condition was stable and performing all bodily functions, the Indian Express said in a report.
