Actor Shreyas Talpade who recently suffered a cardiac arrest and is recuperating after an angioplasty recalled the near-death experience. In an interview, Talpade revealed that he was 'clinically dead' and called this his second chance at life.
Speaking to the Times of India, Talpade said that he has never been hospitalised before, but he had a family history of heart ailments. On the day he suffered the heart attack, he was shooting for a comedy film Welcome to the Jungle. Talpade recalled he had been feeling 'extremely fatigued' due to the hectic schedule in the past few months.
He said he is forever grateful to his wife Deepti, who rushed him to the hospital and did everything in her capacity to save him. Talpade passed out on the way to the hospital when their car was stuck in traffic. She managed to get help and the doctors managed to revive him with emergency treatment. Calling her his 'superwoman', Talpade said she is the reason he is still here. The doctors told him that he kept apologising to Deepti for putting her through the ordeal.
Talpade warned people against ignoring warning signals that our bodies give us. The actor said that he does not drink or smoke and follows a healthy diet and fitness routine, but yet, was not spared. “I have heard post-Covid, many healthy young people have encountered heart issues,” he said.
Do not take your health for granted, he said. He said that he started working in theatre since the age of 16, and became a professional actor at 20. For the past 28 years, I have just been focussing on my career he said, adding that now he is taking it one day at a time.
“We take our families for granted, we think we have time,” he said.
