The production house has given us some memorable films

Dharma Productions was founded by Yash Johar in 1976. His son, Karan Johar, has directed seven films for Dharma Productions and has produced all of the company's films since his father's death in 2004. The production house has given us some memorable films including Kal Ho Naa ho and My Name is Khan. However, here are some lesser-known films produced by Dharma Productions.

Muqaddar Ka Faisla (1987)

A Hindu priest who is wrongly accused for embezzlement and rape is imprisoned. He searches for his family upon his release from prison and seeks retribution for his humiliation. The movie was released in 1987, directed by Prakash Mehra and produced by Yash Johar. It stars Raaj Kumar, Raakhee, Raj Babbar, Meenakshi Sheshadri, Tina Munim in pivotal roles. Bappi Lahiri has composed the music for the film.

Kaal (2005)

A mysterious local man offers assistance to a group of tourists who are traumatized by an unexplained force while visiting a national park. Written and directed by Soham Shah, it was jointly produced by Karan Johar and Shah Rukh Khan. The film stars Ajay Devgn, John Abraham, Vivek Oberoi, Esha Deol, and Lara Dutta. Critics gave the movie varying ratings, pointing out that it was a distinct kind of horror movie.

Ungli (2014)

Four friends who were affected by political corruption turn into vigilantes on the side. A policeman makes an effort to apprehend them. It is an Indian vigilante crime thriller film directed by Rensil D'Silva and produced by Hiroo Yash Johar and Karan Johar. The film stars Emraan Hashmi, Randeep Hooda, Kangana Ranaut, Neha Dhupia, Angad Bedi, Neil Bhoopalam and Sanjay Dutt. It was Mahesh Manjrekar first time collaborating with Dharma Productions.

Gippi (2013)

In order to compete against a popular girl in the yearly school elections, an overweight teenage girl from a broken home must get over her insecurity. Written and directed by Sonam Nair and produced by Hiroo Yash Johar and Karan Johar, this was the debut movie of Riya Vij.

Guilty (2020)

Starring Kiara Advani, the movie tells the story of a songwriter in the #MeToo era whose boyfriend is accused of rape. It is a thriller drama film directed by Ruchi Narain and written by Ruchi Narain, Kanika Dhillon and Atika Chohan. The film is the first production venture of Dharmatic, the digital arm of Karan Johar's Dharma Productions.

Gumrah (1993)

A budding singer gets imprisoned after being falsely charged with drug trafficking. After making her getaway, she goes after those who falsely accused her. This crime drama film directed by Mahesh Bhatt and written jointly by Sujit Sen and Robin Bhatt. It stars Sridevi, Sanjay Dutt, Anupam Kher, and Rahul Roy. A small portion of Gumrah was inspired by the Australian miniseries Bangkok Hilton. It was produced by Yash Johar.
