Actor Sridevi continues to be an enigma five years after her unfortunate and untimely death. As much as she was a bundle of energy on screen, off it, she was, reportedly, a shy, private and reserved person.

So, if a biopic were to made on the acting powerhouse, who would her fans love to see in her role? It's a tough question to answer, as filmmaker Karan Johar admitted in an exclusive interaction with THE WEEK. After much thought, however, he revealed his choice. “I would just say... Janhvi [Kapoor],” Johar said in the Quick Fire session with Namrata Zakaria.

Janhvi, Sridevi and film producer Boney Kapoor's elder daughter, debuted in Bollywood with Dhadak in 2018. But it was Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl (2020) that gave her the much-needed break.

For Johar, it was a role reversal of sorts—the host of the popular talk show Koffee with Karan was in the hot seat in the Quck Fire session with THE WEEK. When asked who he would like to cast for biopics on other personalities like Narendra Modi and Nita Ambani, he chose to go with Amitabh Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai.

He also had a piece of fashion advice for the young actors such as Varun Dhawan, Sidharth Malhotra and Tiger Shroff. “Be a little for experimental with their fashion choices,” Johar remarked.

When asked which genre he would not venture into, Johar chose horror. “I’ve had two horrible experiences with horror; two films that have both failed. I am never going to attempt horror again.”

The 51-year-old, while answering the true-or-false set of questions, admitted that box office numbers are sometimes exaggerated, and that celebrity tweets about film reviews are not always true.

He also said that the three Khans – Shah Rukh, Salman and Aamir – are irreplaceable.

On his pet Gen Z peeve, he said that they are not using the time spent on social media productively. “It would be so much productive if they actually created something out of that virtual domain,” he said.

Johar ended the Quick Fire session with some heartwarming advice for his twins Yash and Roohi. “Don't conform... create.”
