Bollywood actor Deepika Padukone has been confirmed as a presenter for the prestigious BAFTA (British Academy of Film and Television Arts) awards. Padukone will be joining the likes of David Beckham and Dua Lipa as presenters. Veteran actor Cate Blanchett, too, has been confirmed as a presenter along with Hugh Grant, Lily Collins, Adjoa Andoh, Emma Corrin, Gillian Anderson, Himesh Patel and Idris Elba. They are expected to give away an award each.
Padukone presented an Oscar in 2023, and in 2022, she was one of the jury members at the Cannes Film Festival.
The movie based on Robert Oppenheimer, father of the atomic bomb, Oppenheimer, has received 13 nominations at the BAFTA awards. Dark comedy Poor Things has received nine nominations, and so has Martin Scorsese's Killers of the Flower Moon. The award ceremony will take place on February 18 at London’s Royal Festive Hall, and will be streamed live on Lionsgate Play in India on February 19 at 1:30am.
This year, contenders for the Rising Star award include Phoebe Dynevor, Ayo Edebiri, Jacob Elordi, Mia McKenna-Bruce, and Sophie Wilde. The award will be presented by former winners Emma Mackay and Jack O’Connell. A performance by Hannah Waddingham has been confirmed.
Padukone was recently seen in ‘Fighter’ alongside Hrithik Roshan. She will be next seen in action -thriller film ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ alongside actor Prabhas.
