Ghazal singer Pankaj Udhas dies at 72

He was conferred the highest civilian award, the Padma Shri, in 2006

Prominent ghazal singer Pankaj Udhas passed away at age 72. His daughter Nayaab shared the news on Instagram. She wrote, “With a very heavy heart, we are saddened to inform you of the sad demise of Padmashri Pankaj Udhas on 26th February 2024 due to a prolonged illness."

Udhas was known for songs like Aur Ahista, Jeeye toh Jeeye Kaise, and Chitthi Aayi Hai among others. He was conferred the highest civilian award, the Padma Shri, in 2006. Fans around the world were captivated by the combination of his melodious voice and poignant lyrics.

The singer was suffering from a prolonged illness and passed away at Breach Candy Hospital, Mumbai.
