It's confirmed. The popular Malayalam comedy franchise Aadu is set to have a third part! The news was announced via social media by director Midhun Manuel Thomas, who helmed the first two parts of the movie that featured Jayasurya in the lead role.
"Finally, delivering a promise..!! The biggest of the franchise..!! Here is the announcement poster..!! Pappan syndicate varaar," Midhun Manuel Thomas jotted on Saturday evening while releasing a poster that confirmed Aadu 3. The poster showed Vijay Babu, who plays SI Sarbath Shameer in the franchise, alongside Jayasurya and Thomas himself. The trio held a goat each in their hand -- signifying the third instalment of the movie.
Aadu was released in 2015 while the second instalment came out in 2017. The slapstick comedy follows the adventures of a tug-of-war team based in Idukki, which is led by Jayasurya's Shaji Pappan. Vinayakan's mafia henchman Dude, local crimelord Satan Xavier (Sunny Wayne), politician Sasi Ashan (Indrans) and others become a part of the journey after a goat belonging to Pappan and co. ends up munching on an ancient herb with magical properties ('Aadu' means goat in Malayalam).
Vijay Babu's Friday Film House will be producing Aadu 3, the poster confirmed. However, not much was revealed about the plot and whether the entire cast will be back for the third chapter. The movie gave unique lyrical scores to many of the main characters, which became an instant hit with the viewers.
Midhun is currently directing Anali, a crime series for Disney+ Hotstar while Jayasurya will be seen next in Kathanar, the horror flick directed by Rojin Thomas that is rated among the most-awaited Mollywood releases of 2024.
