THEATRE RELEASES

1. Swatantra Veer Savarkar

Release date: 22 March

Randeep Hooda's 'Swatantra Veer Savarkar' is a biopic of politician and activist Vinayak Damodar Savarkar. The movie, directed by Randeep Hooda himself, delves into the life of the unsung hero V.D. Savarkar, exploring his views, ideologies, and efforts to throw out the British from India. Hooda claims he attempts to dissect the life of one of "the most misunderstood, debated, and influential among unsung heroes" through this biopic.

2. Knox Goes Away

Release date: 22 March

'Knox Goes Away' marks Michael Keaton’s return to directing after 15 years. The movie revolves around a hitman, Knox, portrayed by Michael Keaton himself, who is diagnosed with aggressive dementia and has a week to settle his affairs. Another subplot in the movie focuses on a father-son relationship. Al Pacino, James Marsden, and Marcia Gay Harden play pivotal roles, promising fans an electrifying performance from Michael Keaton.

1. 3 Body Problem

The creators of the award-winning series 'Game of Thrones' are back with a mind-blowing sci-fi series '3 Body Problem'. The series is based on the global best-selling novel by Chinese author Cixin Liu. Published in 2008 the sci-fi novel sold up to nine million copies worldwide and was also awarded the Hugo Award. The series follows a group of brilliant scientists working together to stop humanity's greatest threats, unravelling mysteries across space and time. The series features an ensemble cast including Benedict Wong, Jess Hong, Jovan Adepo, Eiza González, and Alex Sharp among others.

2. Oppenheimer

Releasing date: 22 March

Streaming platform: JioCinema

Bagging the Oscars in various categories including The Best Picture 'Oppenheimer' is finally arriving on streaming platforms. Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer looks into the life and mind of American theoretical physicist, J. Robert Oppenheimer, known as the father of the atomic bomb. The film also revolves around the controversial Manhattan Project which led to the development of the world's first nuclear weapon during World War II. The movie was released in theatres on 21 July 2023 and became the highest-grossing biopic released. Cillian Murphy helmed the role making him receive the Oscar for Best Actor and Robert Downey Jr for Best Supporting Actor. Other cast include Emily Blunt, Matt Damon, and Florence Pugh among others. 

3. Ae Watan Mere Watan 

Release date: 21 March

Streaming platform: Amazon Prime Video

Drawing inspiration from the life of freedom fighter Usha Mehta, ' Ae Watan Mere Watan' tells the tale of an underground radio station led by a courageous young lady headlined by Sara Ali Khan, who played a pivotal role in India's freedom struggle. Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta and Somen Mishra have produced this daring movie. The movie's premiere date was announced on World Radio Day by Amazon Prime Video. Directed by Kannan Iyer, the film features Sachin Khedekar, Abhay Verma, and Sparsh Shribastav in pivotal roles along with a special guest appearance by Emraan Hashmi.

4. Lootere

Release date: 22 March

Streaming platform: Disney Plus Hotstar

Hansal Mehta's 'Lootere' recounts a real-life ship hijacking in Somalian waters. According to the trailer, an Indian cargo ship is hijacked by pirates and how each crew member struggles for survival forms the crux of the movie. The series is directed by Jai Mehta and produced by Shailesh R. Singh. The series promises to be exciting and adventurous. Rajat Kapoor , Vivek Gomber, Aamir Ali arrive in lead roles. 

5. Abraham Ozler

Release date: 20 March

Streaming Platform: Disney Plus Hotstar

After a successful theatrical release, Jayaram starer 'Abraham Ozler arrives on streaming platforms. The plot revolves around a middle-aged police officer (Abraham Ozler) essayed by 'Jayaram' who is suffering from Insomnia and his journey to solve a series of crimes, that happen in similar patterns and styles. The subplot of the movie revolves around why Ozler has been suffering from Insomnia and his unforgettable broken past. Directed by Midhun Manuel Thomas the outing features a stellar cast including Mammootty, Dileesh Pothan, Anaswara Rajan, Jagadish in major roles. 

6. Fighter

Release date: 21 March

Streaming on: Netflix

Hrithik Roshan's 'Fighter' received positive reviews after its theatrical release. Directed by Siddharth Anand, the movie follows an Air Force squad's mission to protect the nation from threats. The movie is no Tom Cruise's Top Gun but will set a benchmark for what an aerial action film would look like. Fighter features a stellar cast, including Deepika Padukone, Anil Kapoor, Karan Singh Grover, and others. Patriotism, camaraderie, courage, and sacrifice 'Fighter' has it all. 

7. Road House

Release date: 21 March

Streaming platform: Amazon Prime Video

In the remake of the 1989 film of the same name, Jake Gyllenhaal plays the lead role of Dalton. Fans are thrilled to see the remake of the adrenaline-pumping 80s cult classic. The movie revolves around Dalton an ex-UFC fighter who hits rock bottom and the bar owner offers him a bouncer job at a roadhouse. He later on finds that things are messed up at the roadhouse and gets involved in the mess. Directed by Doug Liman the movie promises to have a better impact than its predecessor.
