Actor Dhanush just released the poster of Ilayaraaja, the film in which he plays the ace music director Isaignani Ilayaraaja. The poster shows a young man holding a bag containing his belongings, entering Chennai. The poster looks like an old postcard. Sharing the poster, the actor wrote, “Honoured.”
On playing Ilayaraaja, the actor, in an interview said, the biopic of the immensely popular musician, which has been titled Ilaiyaraaja, Dhanush said in an interview, "What you think, you become. Manifesting. Many of us, if we don't get sleep at night, listen to Ilaiyaraaja's songs to go to sleep. I have spent many nights wondering how it would be if I acted like Ilaiyaraaja sir. I have kept enacting those scenes in my mind without sleep. Manifesting."
The actor also said he one day hopes to do a biopic of superstar Rajinikanth. Ilayaaraja is being directed by Captain Miller director Arun Matheswaran. The actor, who considers himself to be a devotee of Ilayaraaja, says he does not view portraying the music director as a challenge because, 'the very same music will tell me how to do this too." The film will have music by the maestro himself. The cinematography will be by Nirav Shah.
The movie is being produced by Connekkt Media, PK Prime Production and Mercuri Movies. The movie will be released in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi. Dhanush will next be seen in Raayan, co-starring Varalaxmi Sarathkumar.
